This project aims to construct a network of four domestic centers to accomplish High Depth Omics research designed to comprehend multi-levels of biological molecular information across genome to metabolites, thereby leading to global technological development, human resource development, and the establishment of research platforms. To facilitate Big data-driven sciences, Research Center for High Depth Omics was established in April 2022, as a facility affiliated to IMEG. Research Center for High Depth Omics aims to establish the foundation of international collaboration for High Depth Omics that cover gene expression, protein-protein interactions, epigenome and chromatin structure at the level of single cells and single molecules.
Thanks to technological innovation such as the high-speed sequencer, the mass spectrometer and other equipment, a variety of omics research is now developing with growing speed, which allows us to conduct multi-level omics research even at the level of single cells and single molecules. However, a task towards the integrated comprehension of big data in biology has been required for deep understanding of biological phenomena. “High Depth Omics” is the comprehensive approach driven by big-data of multi-level omics.
The project aims to establish the world-leading and practical use of High Depth Omics research through the collaboration of four leading domestic research centers that have outstanding research experience and equipment. This network has special significance in advanced research and human resource development in medical embryology that aims for organ reconstruction from stem cells.
